Woodcarving

Engraving (carving, engraving(cut))

Engraving is the manufacture of illustrations by means of engraving (carving) drawings on mostly flat wooden or metal surfaces.

The term is also used to refer to the printmaking technology, etching. Engraving includes fine wood using tools such as chisels, hammers, different saws and clamps.

Engraving is used for the manufacture of different objects, figures, icons, period furniture, and frames. Engraving used in interior design plays a decorative role.

This craft requires skillful hands, a lot of patience and attention to detail. The final product goes through several stages: preparation of wood, drawing patterns, cutting of contours with a saw and finally production and manufacture itself.

The type of wood that is mostly used for engraving has a unified (smooth) and fine structure. This type of wood comes from trees such as walnut, mahogany, linden, plum, oak, beech and ash.
