Furriery

CURRIER

This craft produces winter clothes and garments made of leather and fur, for example wool-fell coats, long sheepskin coats, fur-caps, chestplates and bustiers etc. The leather of sheep and lamb is mostly used with fleece inside, known as shearling. Due to the simple production and accessibility of the fabric, a wool-fell coat is known to be among the most ancient clothes.

The first mention of wool attire from the medieval period in Serbia was in the chronicle of the Studenica monastery.  The patron of the tanners’ guild was St.Elias.  The crafts is still widely spread throughout Serbia.
